MTT's, SNG's, and Game Discussions

I know a previous poster had a thread but it looked like the thread was locked. I also concur w/ the previous poster in that the PLO8 sit n go's here are far too slow at the moment, as are the hu tourneys. People often don't want to sit and play a sit n' go if they think it will take them hours. I have always enjoyed the idea of being done within 45 min to an hour and grabbing something to eat, coming back to play more, etc. Back to PLO/PLO8 though. I saw the previous discussion and the mention of guarantees in these tourneys and being burned by them prior. Why does there have to be a guarantee on these tourneys? There are plenty of holdem tourneys on here w/out guarantees that are still able to draw players. You have a defined segment of the site that loves to play these games. Some of these players rarely even venture over to hold'em. I for one, LOVE PLO8 and feel it's one of the better games for stronger players, especially in an MTT format. I know other players feel the same about Stud. We play a ton but are only able to play shorthanded SNG's or cash games. You don't have to add guarantees. I don't believe Ultimate Poker even had guarantees on their PLO8 nightly but the prize pool still turned out decent. We just want it in an MTT format. I don't need a GTY. I want to display my skills against any # of players and that's fun to me. And as far as guarantees, The 4 at 4 tournament generally only pays out about 100-125 dollars for the winner but an extra 100 bucks is 100 bucks. Once it starts (usually super short), it generally gains 20+ players. Guarantees are nice, but they're certainly not necessary. And as for decreasing liquidity, I think there are a lot of players on this site willing and wanting to play multiple tournaments of any variety for max value. I don't think spreading an extra nightly tourney (or two) of a PLO8/PLO/Stud tourney will hurt liquidity for the site, as A LOT of good hold'em players tend to also excel in other games. Admittedly, I want a PLO8 MTT badly, whether it has a GTY or not. Stud would just be a bonus too.

I really want a weekly HU tournament and to make it a PLO HU every third week or something. I think they'll need the guarantee to attract players, as is I rarely see the plo tournaments take off and when they do only have a hand full of players. I do think PLO8 though would run and meet whatever guarantee they put on that. Maybe these will do good if they feature them, like a weekly stud or stud8 on Thursday a weekly plo8 on Saturday then smaller buyins on Sunday.

HU tourneys would be cool for sure! I vote for Saturdays and Sundays though since I have to work the other days haha.

PLO is one of those games where everyone tells you that they're sure that if you just offered X people would fill the seats. Then we offer it and we get one or two weeks of good turnout and then it stops hitting the guarantee.

It's frustrating. Personally, I love Omaha. I would love to see more Omaha games going off.

It might work as a weekly though and we'll look into that.
